Governed AI adoption at Oceanvolt

Oceanvolt designs and manufactures electric and hybrid propulsion systems for the marine industry, and demand for them has grown rapidly. Growth brings more customers, support requests, documentation and internal coordination. The company wanted to explore how AI could speed up work and introduce it in a controlled way.

Understanding first, then tools

AI Talents carried out an AI assessment for Oceanvolt covering five business functions: product development, logistics, sales, procurement and customer support. The assessment gave leadership a clear view of where AI can deliver tangible value and where groundwork is needed first.

  • Interviews with key people across functions to understand actual workflows and needs
  • Review of existing tools and information sources so recommendations were based on the real environment
  • A phased roadmap prioritising actions in three stages: now, next and later
  • A governance model with six rules to guide the day-to-day use of AI
  • Training for leadership covering the findings, roadmap and next decisions

What Oceanvolt is building towards

Based on the assessment, Oceanvolt is working towards a situation where:

  • Routine work such as finding information, drafting and summarising becomes faster across all functions
  • The support team finds answers faster because information is collected and searchable
  • Information quality improves systematically, making AI more useful over time
  • New AI solutions are introduced in a controlled way, one stage at a time
  • People remain responsible for the outcome, and AI serves as a tool

From roadmap to practice

The assessment's key finding concerned information quality. AI can only answer based on what has been documented, so gathering and organising information is the first step towards effective solutions.

The roadmap contains 13 actions across three phases. The first actions focus on gathering information and adopting everyday AI tools. Later phases develop function-specific solutions, such as documentation assistants and support process automation.

The six-rule governance model guides everyday use, information security and quality assurance. This makes clear to everyone where AI may be used and with what information.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an assessment take?

An assessment typically takes 4–6 weeks. It includes interviews, analysis, an AI roadmap and executive training. The duration depends on how many functions the assessment covers.

How much does an assessment cost?

An assessment costs €5,000–€10,000 (excluding VAT). The price depends on how many business functions it covers and how deeply they are assessed. We confirm a fixed price before starting, once the scope has been agreed.

What happens after the assessment?

You receive an AI roadmap with use cases prioritised. We can also help implement it in two ways: through a focused project with an agreed scope and schedule, or by having our expert join your team as an external consultant and advance the roadmap as part of your day-to-day work.
